How to Season Your Bakeware Before Use
Your stone is ready to use as soon as you bring it home. In some areas of the country where a lot of moisture exists, place in the oven and heat to 450-550 for one hour. LET COOL. This as well as repeated baking improves baking properties.
Maintaining your stone
With normal use, your bakeware will provide a lifetime of baking. However, it may break or chip if dropped. The bakeware should NEVER be placed in water. You should not wash the bakeware and put it directly in a hot oven. The steam can crack the bakeware. The best way to clean the bakeware if it becomes oily or badly stained, is a self cleaning oven for a few hours.

With repeated baking, your bakeware will stain over a period of time. This is normal, and will not affect the flavor and may, in fact, enhance it. While baking on your stone, cooking residue falling onto the bakeware may result in a smoke odor. Stains can be removed, if desired, with a brass BBQ brush, or scraper after the bakeware has cooled. In electric ovens, the bakeware can be placed in the oven set at self cleaning.
